    Wikigate Update

Some wars get fought and some are over before your boots hit the sand. Last week I wrote about how Attensa was kicked off of Wikipedia for an article we participated in. Personally, I was poised for a drawn out battle of rhetoric and hastily written message board responses. However, collectively, we came to our senses. The simple truth of the matter is that this issue, while infuriating, just isn't important enough for our company to focus on. That's probably the only insult I'll direct toward Wikipedia in this post.

I don't like it. I like a good fight. And can anyone imagine a fight better than going to toe to toe against a haphazard and obsfuscated organization (whoops another insult) like Wikipedia.

I like having the better argument. I believe we did. I reached out to David Weinberger, An author and philosopher I've mentioned in this blog before. He didn't agree with me (which has in no way diminished his awesomeness).

Web 2.0 is Attensa's battleground. I'm supposed to spend my days arming companies with tools to manage their war on information overload. We'll win that war and so I refocus on the ever present prize.

I am getting over Wikigate, slowly but surely. Attensa endures and in fact we plan to create a new corporate profile on Google's competitor to Wikipedia called Knol. Knol is not yet a Wikipedia by any stretch of the imagination, but they could eventually be an X-Box to Sony's Playstation.
